Why have Lip Filler?
Some women are blessed with full, well defined lips that balance out the face, and provide a luscious smile. However whilst celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Thylane Blondeau are walking around with genetics on their side, we are aware that not everybody is the same and some may need a helping hand.
The lip area is injected with a soft filler in order to provide ‘plumpness’. The whole procedure takes around 30 minutes and can address thin lips and asymmetry, as well as a number of imperfections such as “smokers” lines, wrinkled lips, and creating and emphasising the cupids bow (the V-Shaped dip on the top lip of the mouth). This is a very simple, non-surgical treatment which provides immediate results and enhances the lower face.
The treatment is beneficial for those individuals who have lost lip volume as a result of age (which can be up to 50% by the age of 50) or for any individuals, male of female, who would like more volume to their lips.
What can be done?
There are two options, (which may be used in combination), for Lip enhancement:
1) Shaping- this involves injecting thin linear streaks of soft dermal filler superficially across the ‘vermillion border’ surrounding the lips. This is ideal for those with little shape, fine perioral lines, subtle changes of enhancing mild shape that already exists.
2) Volumisation- this involves injecting deeper into the ‘wet-dry’ border of the lips to add substance to wasted areas, and can even create a ‘soft-pout’ when injected centrally. Volumisation can also be combined with shaping to create shape and volume together.
