MASSETER TREATMENT (TEETH GRINDING / BRUXISM)

WHAT IS THE MASSETER?

The masseter muscle is a facial muscle that runs through the rear part of the cheek from the temporal bone to the lower jaw on both sides of the face. It is primarily used to assist the jaw in chewing, however, it is surprising to learn how much tension is actually held in these muscles which can lead to a number of issues ranging from Teeth Grinding, Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) as well as tension headaches and jaw ache.

From an aesthetic perspective, the masseter muscle can increase in size and cause a visible protrusion to the jawline which can cause an uneven symmetry and contour of the lower face.

TREATMENT

Symptoms can easily be treat with a very effective non surgical technique using small amounts of carefully placed Botulinum Toxin into the masseter muscle which can help reduce the strength and size of the muscles, providing relief from discomfort and pain.

Before any treatment is carried out, our Medical Doctors will carry out a full consultation and medical history to ensure there are no reasons why treatment may not be suitable for you and then assess your facial anatomy and discuss the treatment at depth including all the potential risks and side effects of the treatment.  Treatment time is around 15 min to carry out and has minimal discomfort and our experienced staff will ensure your safety and comfort during the procedure, so you can leave feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
